About the Scheme

The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC) is a one-time offer for women and girls that will be accessible for two years, from April 2023 to March 2025.

When and who launched it?

The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate was launched in the Union Budget 2023-24 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Eligibility

It is eligible for only girl child and woman. In the case of a minor girl child, her guardian can open an account in her name.

Deposit limit

The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate permits a minimum deposit of Rs. 1,000 (in multiples of Rs. 100) and a maximum deposit of Rs. 2 lakh.

Interest Rate on MSSC

This scheme offers a fixed interest rate of 7.5% p.a., which is significantly higher than most bank Fixed Deposits (FDs) and other popular small savings schemes.
